Five Tips for Healthy Eating

With all of the mixed messages media sends us about healthy eating, it is easy to get confused. Healthy eating is not as complicated as it seems and is quite an intuitive process. To get you started on the right foot, here are some of our favorite tips:

1.) Drink plenty of water.

As a baseline, drink 1/2 of your body weight in oz. of water per day.

2.) Fill 1/2 of your plate with vegetables.

Vegetables are nutrient-dense and will fill you up without weighing you down.

3.) Eat healthy fats.

Fat is an essential piece of an overall healthy diet. Some of our favorite healthy fats include avocados, olive oil, coconut oil, nuts, and fish like wild-caught salmon.

4.) Eat complex carbohydrates.

Complex carbohydrates include vegetables, fruits, beans, and whole grains.

5.) Focus on quality vs. calories.

Calories do not take into consideration the quality of the food you are consuming. Quality is much more important—when you put good in, you get good out.

We hope these tips are helpful to you as you begin or grow in your healthy food lifestyle.
